Users can tag up to 30 products in a single Instagram reel.

Creators can now add affiliate product links directly into Instagram reels.

The affiliate linking tool is now live in the US, Brazil, Thailand, and Indonesia, with more regions set to follow.

Affiliate links allow creators to earn commissions when their audience follow their links and complete purchases. Previously, creators would have to direct their viewers to a link in their comments, bio, or a third-party storefront.

“You can now use affiliate links to tag products in your reels and earn a commission when people shop your content. Rolling out over the coming weeks,” said Instagram chief executive Adam Mosseri in a post.

The feature has a product cap of 30, meaning up to 30 products can be tagged in a single reel. This is significant, as many influencers use reels to promote multiple things at once, such as cookware, outfits, or multi-item tutorials.

Creators can add these products by publishing a reel and selecting the ‘add products’ option within the share sheet. From there, they paste a product URL or search a brand’s verified catalogue, and can tag the items in the video.

Once this goes live, viewers can tap the tagged products and are redirected to the brand’s app or site, where they can browse and purchase products. Eligible creators earn commission on the sales.

Instagram isn’t the only Meta platform developing an affiliate programme. The social media giant also recently announced a new Facebook affiliate programme, partnered with Amazon, Temu, and eBay, with more brands set to join in future.

Some publishers have reported that Facebook referral traffic has quadrupled in early 2026 year-on-year – reversing years-long decline.

Social media platforms are looking to capitalise on their active audiences, who are engaged within their communities and can manipulate their algorithms to show content that they are more likely to be interested in.
