Talent watch: Dentu’s chief marketing officer exits

The latest round up of people moves include dentsu, Meta, Google, Forbes, and Netflix.

Dentsu’s global chief communications and marketing officer, Jeremy Miller, has left the business.

Miller is a former IPG network group director, and he also served as executive vice-president of the McCann Worldgroup.

A spokesperson for Dentsu told Campaign Miller was leaving by “mutual agreement” and he had been an “integral part of Dentsu, playing a significant role in shaping our brand and culture”.

They added: “We thank Jeremy for his contributions and leadership during a transformational time for Dentsu and wish him the very best in his next chapter.”

The role will be taken over by Manus Wheeler, current chief of staff.

Other notable people moves

Meta has hired ex-OpenAI’s Luke Metz

AI researcher Luke Metz has joined Meta’s Superintelligence Labs, having spent the last two years at Mira Murati’s Thinking Machines and re-joining OpenAI earlier this year.

Metz starts at Meta this week, and will likely report to Alexandr Wang, a source familiar with the matter told Axios.

Barret Zoph joins Google

Barret Zoph, co-founder of artificial intelligence ​startup Thinking Machines Lab, is set to join Google DeepMind.

Zoph previously held a position as vice-president of research at OpenAI after six years as a research scientist in Google Brain.

Forbes top editor fired after $6m payment

The Forbes top editor, Randall Lane, was fired last month after it was discovered that he received a payment of roughly $6mn from RJ Shook.

Shook’s company, Shook Research, has partnered with Forbes since 2016. Shool sold the majority stake in his company to a private equity firm last August.

It is currently unclear why Shook paid Lane – although Lane reportedly considered the payment a gift in recognition of advice he provided Shook, according to the New York Times.

Key Netflix ad exec departs

Jon Whitticom, prominent Netflix executive who helped develop the streaming giant’s ad business, is exiting the business.

Ad product executive Marc Heneghan will take over on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is found.

Visha Kudhail joins Talon.One

Ex-pinterest executive Visha Kudhail has joined Talon.One as its global director of brand and advocacy. She has previously held positions at Google and Thinkbox.

Kudhail said: “Talon.One has spent a decade proving they’re the infrastructure layer for commerce, and with Adyen behind us, we can make that case at the scale it deserves.”

Sam Hollis joins FutureBrand

FutureBrand has welcomed Sam Hollis as global strategy partner – a position which will come alongside his current role as head of strategy in London.

Hollis has held his position in FutureBrand London since 2020.
