Channel 4 announces largest round of layoffs ever

Channel 4 is set to make huge layoffs with roughly 300 jobs cut – equivalent to roughly a quarter of its workforce.

The restructure is the most dramatic in the organisation’s history. Chief executive, Priya Dogra, told staff the cuts came as part of a new strategy and structure.

This follows a huge round of layoffs just two years ago, when around 200 jobs were cut in what was, at the time, the biggest round of layoffs for 15 years.

Channel 4 experienced a pre-tax loss of £10m in 2025, which makes it the third annual loss in a row after a £12m deficit in 2024, and a £52m loss in 2023.

Advertising revenue fell by 2%, and total revenue dropped by 1% to just over £1bn in the last year.
