New data and signaling tools coming to Google’s Meridian are designed to put more power in marketer’s hands.
Google has introduced new measurement capabilities aimed at giving marketers more control and facilitate informed decisions to drive real-world results.
The updates come in three stages; strengthening data foundations to underpin AI, upgrading Meridian for enhanced measurements, and calibrating with real-world causal proof.
To help build data foundations for AI to feed from, Google is first looking to dismantle data silos. Specifically, this refers to a direct integration of Data Manager into Google Analytics (GA) and Display and Video 360 (DV360).
Nipoon Malhotra, vice president of ads analytics, insights, and measurement at Google explained: “Advertisers who connect offline and app data to Data Manager see an average 26% increase in incremental ROAS.”
Google has also launched ‘enhanced conversations’ within GA and DV360 to improve the accuracy of conversion measurement using first party conversion data from
“Advertisers using enhanced conversions realize an average 11% increase in search conversions compared to standard conversion imports,” Malhotra continued.
Alongside this, the Data Manager API will be available universally, to help identify and address issues as they arise, working in tandem with a new data strength uplift metric in Google Ads – a measurement to calculate conversions and build data strength.
Meridian mix model marketing
Meridian, Google’s open-source marketing mix model (MMM), will soon have agentic features to help resolve errors, audit data quality, and guide model building.
The model will also be able to accept relevant brand signals like branded Google query volume, helping marketers measure brand building efforts and proving upper-funnel video and TV leads.
After a successful test period, Meridian GeoX will be rolled out to advertisers across the globe. The measurement tools will help advertisers run causal geo-experiments across different platforms.
