Consumer subscription plans are being rolled out across Meta’s app family

Meta is now rolling out consumer subscription plans across its flagship app family including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook – testing plans built for creators, Meta AI users, and businesses.

Instagram Plus ($3.99/mo), WhatsApp Plus ($2.99/mo), and Facebook Plus ($3.99/mo), are rolling out around the globe, with subscribers gaining access to extra features like super reactions, story insights, and profile customisation – with “more fun features” to be added in the future, according to Meta’s head of product, Naomi Gleit.

Professional plans for creators and businesses include custom audience insights, better analytics, expanded linksheets, and enhanced Facebook and Instagram profiles, aimed at helping creators drive engagement and shop through links in Instagram posts and reels.

This closely follows Instagram adding affiliate links to reels as part of a wider effort to integrate content creation and affiliate marketing on its platform.

Within this new plan, advanced subscribers will gain access to optimised scheduling tools, multi-user account access (without sharing a password), and alerts which notify users when others on the social media sites reuse your content so that you can request an accreditation to your original reel.

Meta One

As part of the subscription model roll, there are significant new updates for Meta AI, with new features being tested under the name Meta One. This is split into Meta One Essentials ($14.99/mo), and Meta One Advanced ($49.99/mo).

The essentials plan gives users a verified badge as well as impersonation protection and an upgraded linksheet, letting users link their online profiles, similar to MetaVerified.

The advanced plan includes all essential benefits plus the ability to be featured within the Facebook feed, better ranking within Instagram and Facebook searches, a bolder ‘follow’ button on reels, and the ability to automatically send ‘follow’ invitations to users that engage with your content.

MetaAI will still be free for casual users, and plans are set to expand to include benefits for Meta AI glasses users.

“While we’re still testing and learning, eventually, we see Meta One as the one place that brings our subscriptions across all of our apps,” explains Gleit in an Instagram post. “This is just the beginning, with a lot more value to come.”
