ChatGPT tests ‘sponsored agents’ and integrating with HubSpot and Shopify as part of its suite of tools for advertisers.
OpenAI is introducing sponsored agents to ChatGPT, alongside a series of updates to its advertising suite, which include integrations with HubSpot and Shopify.
Sponsored agents is a new AI-powered experience to make ads more accessible for users and help businesses advertiser their products. It will allow users to start a conversation with a business-sponsored agent after clicking an ad in ChatGPT.
The business-sponsored agent will be able to answer questions about the product within the ChatGPT platform, and will offer independent, separate answers to the original conversation within the chatbot.
The sponsored agent feature is now being tested by selected advertisers in the US.
At the same time, new AI features for ad management are also being rolled out, which will enable advertisers to use simple, conversational-language prompts in the creation, updates, an analysis of campaigns – all directly within ChatGPT’s Ads Manager plugin.
With this, businesses will be able to use ChatGPT to turn their own website into a campaign, as well as gain insights and recommendations into performance and next steps.
The new AI assistance tools will be available directly inside Ads Manager so when a business start creating ads, it will receive suggestions on images and copy, based on its landing page and campaign objectives.
If an advertiser enables the settings, they can also opt-into AI-powered text customisation, which would adapt an the headlines and descriptions for audiences based on the conversation and automatically translate the ad copy into a user’s preferred language settings.
Alongside the new features, ChatGPT is integrating HubSpot and Shopify, its first CRM and e-commerce partners respectively. As such, businesses that use HubSpot to manage their customers will be able to connect this to their ChatGPT ad account.
Through this, they will be able to track ad performance, create campaigns, and follow up on leads using their CRM context.
Meanwhile, US-based Shopify merchants will be able to create and manage their ad campaigns using the new integration – with Shopify’s catalogue already including products inside ChatGPT. This is set to expand internationally in ChatGPT ad regions from 23 September.
OpenAI said in a post on its website: “These launches reflect how we’re building an advertising platform with AI at its centre: new ad experiences that make advertising more helpful for people and AI tools that let businesses spend less time on process and more time growing their business.”
The updates come just a week after the Microsoft-backed company quietly updated its advertising policy to restrict its competitors such as Adobe, from promoting their products on ChatGPT.
